The
Newton Yacht Club is a family oriented yacht club nestled on the banks
of the Charles River in Newton Ma, just 5 miles from Boston Harbor. We
encourage you to visit our club and speak with our members, directors
and officers about how rewarding membership can be.
Here
are a few quick facts about joining the Newton Yacht Club.
1)
The NYC is a club NOT A MARINA. Our success depends upon participation.
2) Excluding the costs of your first year (initiation fee), current
annual dues and pier fees run less than $1000 per year ! Payment
schedule as of spring 2007:
One Time initiation fee: $2000
Yearly Dues & Fee's:
$595
Pier Fee's: 24 feet or
larger flat fee $400, under 24 feet $10 per foot. (includes electric
and water too!)
* Each member is required to perform 16 hours of work at the yacht club
during our work parties during the weekends of April or pay $300.
3)
Pier slips are granted according to seniority. It may take a few years
to establish enough seniority to be granted a "permanent" pier. New
members and members low on the seniority list are granted "temporary"
assignment as pier space permits. You may be asked to move your boat
from one pier to another but in the last twenty years, we have
never had to ask a "temporary pier holder" to remove his/her boat from
the club. We will try everything possible to avoid asking a member to
remove a boat from the club!
